The Spring Stallion Show April 1-3, 2008
The annual Stallion Show followed the FHI Association’s AGM, and Ursula and Brian Jensen were there to represent Canada. Brian was allowed to guest judge the young stallions and mares earlier, at the Briem Show and Ursula presented the CFHA’s Best of Show ribbons to the first two stallion classes at the Nordfjordheid Show.

The Nordfjordheid Show has several stallion classes:
Klass 3:
The three year olds – for their first breeding license. It is good for one year. They are either chosen (Karet) or not accepted (Ikke Karet).
Klass 2:
The four year olds - for their first stallion station testing, as well as further approval. This license is shown under the “Premie” column as either a 2 pr or a 3 pr. This will be their permanent ranking unless the stallion owner wishes to upgrade his stallion’s scoring. (Ikke Karet means that they were not accepted as a breeding stallion.)
Klass 1:
Older stallions may show up for re-evaluation for themselves and their offspring. They may be elevated to 1pr at this time, may be left as 2 or 3 premie stallions, or may have their breeding licenses revoked.
In each class, the approved stallions will also be ranked in quality (Kv.) It is a tool used by those in charge of the system to steer the breed in certain directions by encouraging breeding to certain types of animals or those animals with qualities that have been determined to be desirable.
Testing scores and commentary for each horse can also be found by clicking on that horses name (Navn).

Under the heading Bruksegenskapper you will find scores relative to performance testing.
The next category, Andre Egenskapper, considers Temperament – Lynne, Stamina – Holdbarhet, and Offspring – Avkom.
This year's top ranked 3 year old stallion, Merinas Emil, is sired by Knapstadprinsen, a Felix grandson, through Felix's 1.pr son Ljosprins. Knapstadprinsen himself was also the top ranked three year old when he went through the same show.
Felix, of course, was imported by our own Pat Wolfe, and is fast becoming one of the most influential stallions on our continent!
