My name is Riley Spear and I am a 13 year old girl from Wisconsin. In March of this year (2010) my mother and I traveled to Moorefield, Ontario to visit Bluebird Lane Fjords. I spent 4 days there, riding my horse, Bluebird Lane Peregrine, who is there for some tune-up training.

Lori coached me through each ride. I learned many things. The biggest thing she made me understand was the importance of using my outside rein correctly, and not relying on my inside rein so much. Here, she is saying "carry the inside hand".

I got to watch Lori ride Peri, too. It helped me to understand things better when I could watch Lori ride. She is a very good rider.

While I was there, I also rode a horse of Lori's, named Bluebird Lane Kestrel. She is further along in her training than Peri, so I got to try a bit more on her, and learn some things I could try on Peri once she is ready.

LORI ALBROUGH is living the dream. She raises and trains Norwegian Fjords, in Ontario. She was asked to do a Fjord dressage demo as part of the Toronto Cadora Youth Open House. Toronto Cadora has started a youth initiative to introduce young people to dressage and held an event to get youth out to talk to our Junior and Young Rider medalists and there were three demos given including a Grand Prix Pas de Deux and her on a Fjord. It was very successful and well attended. She has a video of the
ride she put on YouTube. And afterwards the TC newsletter did an article on Fjords as the Feature Breed. Watch it here.
