2008 Review

2008 saw some exciting new developments within the CFHA.

Under the guidance of our President, Burt Shewfelt, we have expanded our mission statement to look beyond just pedigrees to assure the future success of the purebred registered Norwegian Fjord Horse  in Canada.

“The principal purpose of the CFHA shall be to preserve the genetic purity of the breed through the registration of animals and the keeping of pedigrees.  Beyond record keeping, the CFHA wants to ensure a strong future for the breed.  This can best be accomplished by supporting the purebred Norwegian Fjord Horse, through education, improved awareness and understanding of the breed.   In doing so, the CFHA is committed to supporting its members and encouraging them to showcase the versatile Norwegian Fjord Horse.”

In pursuit of our new vision, the Canadian Fjord Horse Association would like to recognize the efforts of its members in the establishment of two new committees:  the Membership Committee and the Evaluation Committee.

The membership committee is co-chaired by Eunice Bosomworth and Barbara Neufeld.   The committee needs to hear from you.  Fill out their questionnaire that you received in the mail, with your membership application, and send it back in the envelope provided.   Your opinion is important to us !

The evaluation committee is chaired by Alison Bakken.  It is working to develop an Evaluation Program in cooperation with the NFHR program, so that all registered Fjord Horses can participate.  We will announce evaluation clinics and inspections for this summer on the Events Page of this website.
